Here are some highlights of All Nations Bible Society’s activities in reaching out with the Word of God during 2008-2009:
Brazil
All Nations Bible Society provided financial support for Larry Darby, an independent missionary teaching and developing new pastors and Christian leaders. He heads Seminario SDC in Guarapari, Brazil, with over 300 students and 57 graduates this year. During the past 35 years he has educated over 2,600 church leaders who are now serving throughout Latin America.
France
All Nations Bible Society supplemental support to a Wycliffe Bible Translators missionary who is engaged in ethnolinguistic surveying to determine Bible translation needs among the large number of displaced people groups concentrated in France’s largest cities.
Kenya
All Nations Bible Society provided monthly financial support to Benjamin Musyoka of Nairobi. He heads the child development and leadership development programs of Daystar University, which has over 4,000 students, and trains 400 ministerial students at Nairobi Evangelical School of Theology. He also planted 4 churches in the rural Kitui district.
Liberia
All Nations Bible Society provided grants for two different church conferences—a ministers’ conference attended by about 150 ordained and licensed clergy, and a denominational conference for World-Wide Missions Liberia, with over 600 official delegates and 3,500 attending various sessions.
ANBS also supported the ministry of Henry Goeh, head of the Christian Education Foundation of Liberia,. Last year, 78 ministers were in training, In addition, CEFL operates the Bassa Christian Radio Service (BCRS FM-89.1) in Buchanan.
Mexico
All Nations Bible Society shipped a 40-ft sea container filled with clothing and supplies to Centro Cristiano Poder de Dios in Mexico City to benefit suffering children and families. Included were 18,750 lbs of baled clothing, 1,200 lbs of shoes, and 749 lbs of quilts. The shipment had a total fair market value of $125,394.
Russia
All Nations Bible Society provided funding for the production of teaching cassettes used in an extension study program of Moscow Theological Institute, which is recognized by the Russian government, operated by the Russian Church of Evangelical Christians. At present 19 courses are available, with others in preparation. Two years of study with the external program can be combined with two more years of resident study to qualify a pastor-in-training for an academic degree in Bible and theology. During the past year, 1,200 students used these cassette studies.
USA
All Nations Bible Society supported the ministries of the Centre for the Study of Biblical Research in Redlands, California, to help underwrite its graduate studies program, a 3-year course including a time of study in Jerusalem, leading to an accredited Th.D. in biblical research. Last year 48 students, mostly pastors, completed the program and received diplomas.
